"Norway's longest sled/toboggan run" is a prepared road down from Mt. Hoven to Oppheim. Here you ride with fantastic fjord views for a full 7 kilometers, spread over about 700 meters. The trip down elicits broad smiles among both young and old.
Bring your own toboggan or sled, or rent one at the top. Sleds can be rented in Fjellbutikken by Loen Active. If the mountain shop is closed, you can contact the Skylift team, and he / she will help you (payment in the Fjordshop before you go up). Helmets must be worn during tobogganing, and are always included in the rent. Rented sleds and helmets can be returned to the designated place where the toboggan run ends. In the mountain shop, you can also rent winter clothes.
The road ends at Holme / Oppheim, 7 km from the fjord station to Loen Skylift. There is parking at Holme (for a fee). Most people choose to park a car on Holme, arrange a "shuttle" with friends / family or order a taxi (Stryn Taxi +47 57 87 23 50, Olden Taxi +47 950 86 146). Residents at Hotel Alexandra can book pick-up in advance at the reception (NOK 100 p.p.). Those who rent a toboggan deliver the toboggan to the designated place where the toboggan run ends.
The season usually lasts from December to April. At skisporet.no you will find an updated status for trekking the trails.
NB: All traffic on the prepared road to Oppheim is at your own risk. Follow the avalanche warning, show consideration and adjust the speed. Helmet should be used during sledding (included in toboggan rental). Children should aways sled together with an adult.
