About Loen Skylift
On the 20th of May 2017, one of the greatest and most spectacular tourism projects in Norway opened. Her Majesty The Queen undertook the official opening. The cable car conveys visitors from the fjord to the top of Mt Hoven (1 011 m) in just five minutes. From the Fjord Station, you start the ascent with the Cable Car to Mt. Hoven (1011 m). After 5-7 airy minutes you arrive at the Mountain Station, and Hoven Restaurant where you will have a 210-degree panoramic view overlooking Mt. Skåla and Lake Lovatnet in the east, Jostedalsbreen Glacier and Olden in the south, and the Nordfjord that winds its way towards Stryn in the west. From Hoven, you can explore the mountain on your own in a comprehensive network of trails, or with a guide. On foot in the summer, or skiing or snowshoeing in winter. By car
Loen Skylift is located right beside road nr 60 in Loen Village, 10 minutes from Stryn, 2,5 hours from Ålesund, 4,5 hours from Bergen, and 6 hours from Oslo by car.
By plane
The nearest airports are Hovden and Sandane, both operated by Widerøe, with direct flights to Oslo and Bergen. Ålesund is 3 hours away by car and has direct flights from the biggest cities in Norway, and London, Copenhagen, and more. Bergen International Airport is 6 hours away.
Airport shuttle
In cooperation with Hotel Alexandra, we are providing an airport shuttle from Hovden, Sandane and Ålesund whole year round.
By bus
NorWay Bussekspress from Bergen, Ålesund and Trondheim, and Nettbuss from Oslo. "Travel like the locals" makes it easy to book bus journeys between Ålesund and Stryn. Travel on your own - truly like a local. Book Ålesund-Stryn here and Geiranger-Stryn here.
From the Port of Olden: Book via your Shore Excursion Manager on the ship. In case your cruise does not offer organized excursions to the Loen Skylift book the shuttle bus that includes the Skylift ticket from Olden (only when ship is in port). This bus stops by Loen Skylift.
